Our Easter Decorations

Come on in…

Easter is here at Teacup Lane!

It's overcast here so the photos aren't as clear as I would like.

My inspiration.
(Source:  Pinerest)

Remember my quick and easy homemade chalkboard project?

It's my second most popular post and you can read about it (here)!

I have so much fun changing my chalkboard sign with the Seasons and Holidays.

Usually I use chalkboard paint but this time I used colored chalk.

Mrs. Ugly (Rabbit) is front and center.

I made the Easter banner over our fireplace mantel too out of card stock and scrapbooking papers.

I printed the designs from my Photoshop application then glued everything together and added the ribbons.

I  also glued little strips of magnets on the backs.

I used to hang the banner on my steel front door but now we have a fiberglass front door.

Bummer!

I love bunnies.

The more the merrier.

This one I purchased from Michaels last year.

Here's our little $8 chest in our foyer all decked out in its Easter finery.

I gathered all my machine embroidery and appliquéd projects together along with my crocheted Easter eggs (pattern link here).

What should I do with this egg carton?

Paint it or decoupage it?

Here's my machine embroidered bunny all surrounded by a cute fabric border.

What do you think of my Bunny Ears Easter Bonnet?

Do you decorate for Easter in your home?

Thanks for visiting!

One Day To Go

Bunnies and Teddy Bears...

I got lots of them here at Teacup Lane!

Sorry...

I've been so busy readying my home for BUNCO tomorrow night...

both blogging and crocheting have been put aside.

See the cute hat with the rabbit ears on my teddy bear cookie jar?

I'm thinking of wearing that bonnet at BUNCO tomorrow night.

It's a silly thing but I think it will be fun.

Or maybe I'll just let the teddy bear continue to wear it.

This is my bunny water fountain.

I hope I remember to fill it with water and turn it on tomorrow.

The house is clean and ready now.

I'm just gathering stuff for the food preparation and the set up.

This is the cleanest my first floor has been in quite a while.

Starting VERY early with the de-cluttering and sorting through our kitchen drawers ready helped to get rid of lots of paper and other junk.

I missed posting on St. Patrick's Day but I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

We had a lovely time.

Friends invited us over for a delicious corn beef and cabbage dinner.

Bunny Book Ends...This & That

We went back to Wolfe's Decorative Hardware this morning to order our lifetime solid brass door handle and lock for our new Pella door on order.

This is what the inside door handle looks like.

It will take three to four weeks for delivery.

While there I couldn't resist purchasing these adorable bunny book ends I saw last week.

 They are heavy too!

They won't have any problem holding our books up.

Gosh they are cute!

On the way home we stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch.

They had both Halloween and Christmas decorations out on display.

I re-crocheted the eight rows I frogged the other day in blue and green hues.

I added some different hues of red to this section and now I'm starting on another section of oranges and yellows.

The colors in my Rainbow Scrap Afghan are so jewel-like and rich.

Sounds good to me!

Our Vintage Bunnykins Set

"Visiting The Cottage"
Royal Doulton "Bunnykins"

If you look at my sidebar you can see a listing of my most popular postings.

I'm always surprised that the post with the most hits is

Vintage Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" signed by Barbara Vernon

I shot the photos for that posting in natural light on my dining room table.  I thought I would see if the china would  photograph better using our new light box and lamps.

This cute set was passed down from Hubby's Mom.  I can only assume they were his as a baby.

"The Proposal"

Awwwww....so romantic!

The Kiss

The cup, "The Proposal,"  above shows Mr. Bunnykins kissing his fiancee after his proposal.

The backstamp for the cup with the lion coloured brown is c1937-1953.

Our Mismatched Royal Doulton Bunnykins Set
Signature by Barbara Vernon

After some research on the internet I discovered the bowl, "Visiting the Cottage," is a different subject than the cup.

"Bunnykins" backstamp for the bowl is c1934 - 1937.

Even the backstamps are cute as can be!

Do you have a "Bunnykins"?

I'm glad we do because I love bunnies!

My Royal Albert Bunny Teapot

The teapot's colors match this vintage table scarf my Mom embroidered.

I saw this cute Bunny Teapot at the English Tea Shop in Epcot (Walt Disney World, Florida) during one of our trips and had to have her.

She's even prettier in person!

So dainty and delicate.

It's Royal Albert "Old Country Roses"

More "Old Country Roses"!

Look at how pretty her back is too!

She even has a cute, little, white bunny tail.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my Bunny Teapot!

Little Bunny Loves Easter Basket

I love my blankie!

My little ty Bunny, Happy Spring, is all wrapped up in his new blankie...

EASTER BASKET!

Doesn't he look cute?

I blogged about Easter Basket's ripple pattern (here).

The corner has three Spike stitches separated by four single crochet stitches.

I winged the edging...making it up as I went along.

This is my first time using a "spike" stitch and I like the results.

Another look at my edging

In case you would like to try my edging (American stitch terms):

Round 1:  (color Soft Lilac) start in corner stitch chain 3, 2dc in same stitch, *dc in next stitch repeat dc to next corner, 3dc in corner stitch* repeat * 3 times to end.  Join with slip stitch, fasten off.
Round 2:  (color Lemon) start in corner stitch chain 1, 2sc in same stitch, *sc in next stitch repeat sc to next corner, 3sc in corner stitch* repeat * 3 times to end.  Join with slip stitch, fasten off.
Rounds 3 - 6:  (color Soft Lilac) start in corner stitch chain 1, 2sc in same stitch, *sc in next stitch repeat sc to next corner, 3sc in corner stitch* repeat * 3 times to end.  Join with slip stitch, fasten off.
Round 7:  (color Lemon) start in corner with spike stitch, then *four sc in next four stitches, spike stitch in next sc* repeating around* to the end.  Join with slip stitch, fasten off.  There should be three spike stitches in each corner each spike stitch separated by four sc stitches.  You may have to adjust the single crochets stitches to make it look uniform.  My spike stitch looped down to round 3.

Working a "spike" stitch:  Insert the hook over the number of rows down from the row being worked, taking the point right through the fabric to the wrong side.  Wrap the yarn over the hook and draw through, lengthening the loop to the height of the working row.  To finish the "spike", complete the stitch in the usual way.  When working "spike" stitches take care not to pull the loop too tight as this will distort the fabric.

Working the Spike Stitch

Yarn used:
Bernat Baby Jacquards in Easter Basket variegated yarn (90% acrylic/10% nylon) for the ripple body;
Bernat Softee Baby, 100% acrylic in Lemon for edging.
Loops & Threads Snuggly Wuggly baby sport (100% acrylic) in Soft Lilac for edging.

Hook size:  G

"Easter Basket" all laid out.

She's a small baby blanket measuring 28 inches by 34 inches.

The blanket is very soft and lightweight.  It will be perfect for summer.

Introducing "Easter Basket"!

"Easter Basket" is a gift for one of my nieces who is expecting her first child, a girl, this May.   I have some yarn left over so I may try to make booties and a little top.

Let me know if you try my edging.  I hope you can read my instructions...I'm very new at writing them.

Miss Bunny Christmas Tree Topper

Isn't SHE beautiful?  She's the perfect item for Show n' Tell Friday!

So let me show you my Christmas Bunny Tree Topper up close and personal.  Miss Bunny is a hand-blown glass ornament tree topper from Germany.  My hubby bought a new macro lens for his camera (Canon Rebel EOS xsi) and I am trying it out.  So bear with me as I learn how to use this lens.  I first blogged about Miss Bunny (here) and wasn't happy because the photo was fuzzy.   So here are some new photos using our new macro lens.

Another view of this sweetie...

All of the above photos were taken without a flash.

This shot was taken with a flash.  I think I like the ones taken without the flash better.

Thanks for joining me for Cindy's @ My Romanic Home Show n' Tell Friday.  Miss Bunny says to hop over to Cindy's blog (here) to see other great Show n' Tells.

Baby Bunnies

Aren't these baby bunnies adorable?

Our neighbor called us over this week to show us a bunny nest he found in his yard.  We were amazed because these babies were just buried under a clump of dirt - very close to the surface.  We always thought that bunnies dug deep burrows for their homes.  This nest was right by the house and next to the steps going up to their deck.  Our neighbors have a dog that goes in and out of there all the time.  Both this neighbor and their next door neighbor have dogs that are loose.

After looking at the babies all of us were standing around talking with the two dogs running around when we realized that one of the dogs had quickly grabbed one of the babies and ran off with it.  We heard a little tiny squeak and before we could stop the dog the little baby was gone.

Oh, the circle of life...I hope the remaining babies make it.  Maybe that why bunnies have so many babies.

A Modern Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" Mug and Figurine

Yesterday I posted about my vintage Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" nurseryware bowl and cup (here).  Today's post is about a modern day Royal Doulton "Bunnykins".

I saw this Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" mug and figurine at Home Goods recently and couldn't resist taking it home to my other Bunnies.   This is Mrs. Bunnykins with her bouquet of flowers.

Here's another pretty view of the cup...see the colorful flowers!

And on the other side is Mr. Bunnykins pushing his cart of flowers...see the inside of the cup where it says "Thinking of You".

So cute...

Here's the sad part...ok... it is described as "hand made" and "hand decorated"...but note that the backstamp says it is "designed in England"... it doesn't say it is made in England anymore.  It is a shame that Royal Doulton is outsourcing their manufacturing of china to another country now.   I always like to get china that was/is made in England because the quality was/is excellent.

Although these Bunnykins mug and figurine are cute does anyBUNNY else feel disappointed about this or is it just me?
