Hello Fall and More

I love my little chalkboard sign!  

Today I updated it for Autumn.  

Lately, rather than using the chalkboard ink pencils, I've been using regular chalk.

After we move to our new home in Ohio I'm going to make some more of them.  

I just read someone's blog where they said chalkboards are "out" now.  

Although the blogger didn't agree (and I don't agree either) because she (and I) loved her (my) chalkboards too.

I'm not able to post as much lately because I've been so busy de-cluttering, cleaning, organizing and packing for our move (still several months away).  

We have rented two storage units... one in PA and another in OH.

And they are filling up.

  

I'm packing my collections and knickknacks for our next trip to our OH storage.

Yesterday I tackled our bathrooms.  

My goodness I couldn't believe all the stuff I had "stuffed" into those rooms.  

I was going to take some before photos of all of it laid out on my beds to sort through but I was too embrassed.  

Today I'm going to go through all my jewelry.  

That is…I'm going to start to sort through it all.

I got as far as gathering it all together and laying it out on our guest bed. 

Not that I wear a lot of jewelry but I have inherited my Mom's and some of my Mother-in-law's jewelry.  

Last week I embroidered the cutest Santa Claus postcard at our monthly Embroidery Club.  

It's embroidered/appliqued out of fabric and felt.  

I purchased this design as part of a set, In-The-Hoop Christmas Postcards (here), on-line at Embroidery Library.

 I'm definitely going to make some more. 

I finished crocheting my Christmas Star Coasters.

 I made enough for our neighborhood Bunco Christmas Party in December.

Next I have to block and starch all of them. 

While packing I found these cute Halloween mugs to set out on our fireplace mantel. 

And last week I bought some Halloween/Fall fat quarters in the neatest fabrics.

Hello Summer!

These chalkboards are fun to change for the different seasons and holidays!

Our porch has been pressure washed.

All clean and the furniture taken out of the shed.

Yesterday and today are so beautiful here.

Sunny, warm and no humidity!

Perfect for sitting out on the porch.

I hope to get out and buy our flowers for the shed flower boxes and for under the Serviceberry tree here by the deck sometime today.

I'm planning an afghan for one of my sister-in-law's whose favorite color is purple.

Above are two sample squares I crocheted up.

I'm still deciding if I will use these or try another pattern.

I have so much fun changing my chalkboard sign with the Seasons and Holidays.

Usually I use chalkboard paint but this time I used colored chalk. 

Mrs. Ugly (Rabbit) is front and center.

I made the Easter banner over our fireplace mantel too out of card stock and scrapbooking papers. 

I printed the designs from my Photoshop application then glued everything together and added the ribbons.

I  also glued little strips of magnets on the backs.

I used to hang the banner on my steel front door but now we have a fiberglass front door.

Bummer!

  

I love bunnies.  

The more the merrier.

This one I purchased from Michaels last year.

  

Here's our little $8 chest in our foyer all decked out in its Easter finery. 

I gathered all my machine embroidery and appliquéd projects together along with my crocheted Easter eggs (pattern link here).

What should I do with this egg carton?

Paint it or decoupage it?

A Winter Sunday

I know we must be the only family in the USA that won't be watching the Super Bowl today.

My Hubby isn't a sports guy at all.

And if I haven't seen some postings on Facebook I wouldn't even know what teams were playing.  

So no Super Bowl Party here.

Rather it's Downton Abbey and Sherlock BBC America TV tonight!  

On the home front I changed out my chalkboard writing from Christmas to Winter theme. 

See how easy it was to make this chalkboard (here). 

It's a warm 53 degrees here today and our snow is slowly melting.  

But, don't worry, 3 to 5 inches of snow is predicted for tomorrow!

I cleaned my stove and oven yesterday.  

I love it when they sparkle. 

Today I cleaned our powder room and tomorrow while Hubby is taking a continuing education course all day I will tackle our master bath and bedroom.

Of course all I really want to do is sew, crochet, watch TV and/or read. 

I have a neighbor, Bunco galpal and friend who is expecting her third child in a few days.  

I found a cute free baby throw pattern called "Leaping Stripes and Blocks Blanket" by Moogly on Pinerest and I think I will try to whip up a quick crocheted baby throw for her.  

The sex of the baby is a secret so I picked some soft neutral pastel colors from my stash in lime, light orangy and white yarns.   

But you will have to wait to see it.  

Speaking of babies...I have to brag.  

Isn't our grandniece, Eva, beautiful?

I found this cute, free tutorial (here) by Sharlene McKay to crochet this adorable Santa Badge. 

And the Christmas wreath is made with pipe cleaners, believe it or not.   

I crouched the wreaths in two sizes and put them together and added a ribbon.

Did you see my mistake yet?

The one on the left is correct.  

I added the third fringe row in white above the face on my first one on the right and it should be below.  

The tricky part is making the Chinese Ball Buttons for the eyes and nose.

Still practicing them though.
