Yesterday I relaxed out on our screened in porch reading a good book while snuggled up in my ripple throw. As much as I love to crochet my favorite hobby is reading.
I grew up with a father and two brothers who liked to read too.
My brothers were into science fiction so I grew up loving anything sci fi!
Now I get to talk about my second hobby - crocheting. I've mastered Edie's #86 and started working the border in green modifying the flower placement to be further apart so that each flower is placed between each granny rose square.
I didn't want the little green flowers to compete with the white granny rose squares.
Once the green flower border is finished I will add an edging in red and white I think.
Back to reading - I'm waiting for the latest book in the series, "A Song of Ice and Fire," to come out in paperback.
The TV series, "Game of Thrones," is doing a fantastic job of following Mr. Martin's books.
We found a wonderful non-chain book store in a neighboring town and I iPhoned several books that looked interesting.
This book appears to be written from the doggie's point of view.
I like to read anything about Rome and/Romans.
Historical novels are my cup of tea and the thicker the book the better!
Time to read and crochet!

Reading and crochet ... now that's what I call a perfect day.
ReplyDeleteToday is a day for a cozy afghan and a good book, while sipping a cup of tea. Another rainy day. xo
ReplyDeleteI used to like to read...and I like to crochet as well. Although, I've kind of dropped both in the past...I've begun to pick both up lately. Your blanket with the granny's squares looks pretty. I love that green color.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your screened porch! I'm envious.
Maybe soon...I'll have a screen and cover over my back porch.

Me, too! I love to read and crochet, too. It's so relaxing and better than TV any old day. Thanks for sharing your books and the beautiful crochet work! I'm totally inspired!

Dear Sandy, I also grew up loving to read, I frequented libraries through out my childhood and when we moved to Sweden, books helped me to learn new language. Unfortunately, I do not read as much as I would like to these days, but still love curl up with a good book from time to time.;)
ReplyDeleteThe Game Of Thrones has been shown here recently and both me and my husband are huge fans.;))
xoxo
I too love to read. (I should have commented on your Black Beauty post because I still have that same edition and I can remember every illustration; they are so beautiful!) I used to do counted cross-stitch but I started crocheting about 3 years ago and love it. Unfortunately I am getting a little too much of reading and crocheting (I did not think that was possible, but it is) the past couple of weeks because of a fall down the basement stairs and the resulting badly sprained ankle. Your blog has helped me during my recovery, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love to read and crochet and have found that I can do both. I have a Nook tablet and it has text to speech, so I plug my headphones in and choose my book and crochet away. I found that I can do both at once with no problem. I also needlepoint with a book in my ears. It drives my husband crazy because he can't do it and doesn't understand how I can. It relaxes me so much.
