Blue and White Doily Finished

Another finished piece - I made this doily out of four blue and white granny squares I posted about (here).  I edged this piece with the single reverse crochet stitch.

How do you like my little birdie?  I bought her at Michaels last year.

This piece is crocheted with Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn with a F hook.  I just love my Sugar n' Cream yarn!

Do you like to crochet with cotton yarn?

  1. I love your new doily! I am a blue and white addict. Your little bird is too sweet. I really need to start crocheting again.

  3. I like it too! I've gotta get some soon!
This is delightful Sandy! Really beautiful work and that little birdie.
Funny thing. You've probably seen my Birdcage in the Conservatory. Well I am almost sure you have with the crocheted squares. Well I had a shock. You know I have crocheted birdies in there One hanging from the roof, the other stuck to the perch with a sticky fixer. Well I went in the room yesterday, and both birdies looked as though they had dropped dead! One had fell off his perch, the other had come unstuck from the crocheted chain hanging from the roof. Bit of a shock, but I had to laugh! Just love your little white birdie.
Congratulations on a most beautiful piece of crocheting.
Love Blue and white colours of my kitchen.,
    Hugs and Love to you,

  4. Yes! I love crocheting with cotton.
I was just thinking about this very subject while crocheting the baby blanket.
For that I used worsted weight polyester thread.

The cotton just flows through my fingers better.
The next baby blanket I make , may be out of cotton instead.

Love your doily. The colors are nice and easy on the eyes.

Do you ever crochet with the little tiny cotton thread? I think it is called
Aunt Lydia's... I like to make doilies and lace trim out of that too.

  5. No, I have never crochet with little tiny cotton thread (Aunt Lydia's). I have tried once or twice to use a small steel hook with size 10 mercerized cotton but just couldn't get the hang of it. I'll have to try again one of these days.

  6. Hi Sandy,
Your doily turned out so pretty! I love the blues. The little bird just seems to go with it, doesn't it. That Sugar and Cream yarn is so soft, I love the feel of it.

Oh, I am terrible Sandy, I do not know how to crochet at all. I did a bit of knitting as a teenager, but that was ages ago.;)
    Have a lovely day,
