My Laundry Room

No, it's not cutesy but it is functional.

It's teeny, tiny thanks to the builder of our subdivision homes.

This is where we enter our home...from the attached garage through the laundry room and into a small hallway and then to the kitchen.

When we bought the home there were no cabinets over the laundry area.

It came with one plastic coated wire shelf.

We had it removed in order to paint and never put it back up.

Several years ago I complained to Hubby I needed more storage.

So we visited our local big box building supply store, Lowe's, and bought these white cabinets that we hung ourselves.

I keep baking supplies, extra K-cups for my Keurig coffee maker and miscellaneous dishes in the cabinets over the washer and dryer.

This is the door to the garage.

See how narrow the pass through is...if the door to the dryer is open you can't get out the door to the garage.

This was a small non-functional closet that originally came with a bi-fold door.

It had a clothes rod to hang stuff but it wasn't deep enough to hang anything.

It was useless as a clothes closet.

We removed the door and put this cabinet on wheels and wheeled it in the space.

This way the space can be converted back to a closet.

If we move, we can take the cabinet with us too.

I love how the cabinet holds all of my cleaning, ironing and laundry supplies.

We have a rod over the laundry tub to hang wet items to dry.

And we used a track from the Gladiator Storage Shelving under the cabinets to hang supplies, paper towels and kitchen towels.  (Gladiator is the storage system we used in our garage.)

These items slide on the track so they can be positioned where ever I want them.

Over here I have a hook to hang my central vac attachment for cleaning the floor.

There's no window, no wall space to talk of...so really no place to hang decorative items.

There is just room for the functional supplies and items needed in a laundry room.

Every so often I have to pull the washer and dryer out and vacuum and clean behind them.

With all the traffic in and out every day this space gets very dirty...very quickly.

That's the tour of our laundry room.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Maybe it's a good thing we don't have any pets.

I could go crazy crocheting something like this.

Ha!
