Gardens of Williamsburg, VA

Ah...the beautiful old English gardens of historic Williamsburg, Virginia.

The stunning hollyhocks...
(oops...me thinks these are foxgloves)

The lovely boxwoods...

I wish this was my yard...

Crape Myrtles create cool shady lanes to walk though...

Is there anything more beautiful than a pretty garden?

Do you have a garden that calls to you?

This is the gorgeous historic Wythe House (back yard) ...home of Mr. Wythe, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and law tutor of Thomas Jefferson.
(Thomas Jefferson came to this very home to study law as a young man!!!)

We had a fantastic time during our stay in Williamsburg, VA.

More photos to come!

  1. Oh! How wonderful, you went to Williamsburg! I love that place, and haven't been there for 20+ years! I'm so glad you showed the gardens, for I am designing a new herb garden at my new home. I love the hollyhocks too! I am blessed to have two large Crape Myrtles, which surprised me with glorious blooms last summer!
    Have a lovely May!

  2. How lovely. I was there in the late 60's /early 70's. I would probably enjoy it more now, but walked a lot better then! xo

  6. Hello from a Brit living in sunny Spain.
Beautiful photos and really lovely gardens....I haven't got as far as Virginia yet my last visit to the USA was to Chicago, however if this is a taste of what you can see I'd say its well worth visiting.

  7. I live about 45 minutes from Williamsburg...just outside of Richmond, VA. This is one of my favorite places to go to take photos! Isn't it just gorgeous? I've never seen the hollyhocks in bloom! I need to put that on my list for next year! I have a few of my photos from Williamsburg on Flickr, if you care to have a quick look. http://www.flickr.com/photos/fromanyangle/sets/72157623857635772/ My fave is the one of the wisteria covered fence that looks kinda dreamy. What a fragrant memory that is!

  8. I appreciate pretty gardens, too. :D Thanks for the lovely tour! I wish we had a flat garden, but we are hugging the side of a mountain. I have to appreciate others' gardens! Thanks for posting these pretty photos of WiIliamsburg gardens.
