Another mug rug crocheted coaster in true Disney fashion.

It was a free pattern but I didn’t record where I found it.

Sorry!

My Lighted Christmas Mickey Mouse

After spending a wonderful Christmas with our brothers and their families we returned home yesterday.   It was a very long drive with snow, sheet and rain all the way across most of Pennsylvania which added an additional THREE hours to our commute - total 11 hours!

We were so tired when we arrived, I suggested we wait until today to celebrate our Christmas.  I knew I would feel much better after a night's sleep and a nice, hot shower.

Santa {{{Hubby}}} treated me like a Queen gifting me with three pairs of beautiful earrings, two Pandora charms and bracelet, some DVDs, a biography of Walt Disney and a mini IntelliScanner to use to easily inventory our books, DVDs etc.

While we were at Ft. Wilderness (Walt Disney World) many of the RVers had this adorable lighted Christmas Mickey Mouse head displayed.

One of the RVers told us they bought theirs at Walgreens.

Well, I assumed it was probably only available at Walgreens in Florida and didn't think about it again.

So... you can imagine how tickled I was when I opened one of my Christmas gifts to find a lighted Mickey Mouse head.

Hubby said he found it at our local Walgreens two days after we returned home.

What a wonderful Christmas!

The best part was spending it with family and my very loving husband.

By the way...I'm not one to immediately take down Christmas decorations just because Christmas is over.

All the Christmas decorations will stay up well past New Years.

So much work goes into decorating I want to enjoy it as much as possible.

Are you one to remove all decorations as soon as Christmas is over or are you like me leaving the decor up to enjoy longer?

I found the perfect spot to hang our new lighted Christmas Mickey Mouse...right next to our Disney Mickey Mouse display shelf!

New Goodies

Thursday morning we took off in our travel van for the Model Train Show in York, PA.  Usually Hubby goes alone but this time he signed up for a camping site so he could spend the night without having to drive back and forth to the show daily.

And he bought a ticket for me just in case I wanted to go with him.

And I did!

The show is one of the largest in the country held two times a year.

I enjoyed it - the only negative is they don't allow cell phones (on) or cameras (photo taking) inside any of the buildings.  Bummer for any blogger!

While there I bought some cute things.

Here are two of them.

The Halloween scarecrow is a collector's vintage plastic candy holder (Rosebro) from the early 1940s. It was expensive ($50) but so unusual I just couldn't resist it.

The seller had several different Halloween candy holders but this was my favorite.

I wished I could have bought the set but it was just too expensive.

The vintage Mickey Mouse is from 1985 Disney souvenir (Pride Lines Ltd).

You can see where the candy is placed on the back.
Mr. Scarecrow up close...sorry it's burry.

Hubby mentioned I should check to make sure the iPhone lens isn't dirty but this is probably due to low light in the back of our house.

I have one other purchase to show you later.

Our landscapers are here to landscape a portion of our back yard by the the driveway/garage/deck.  I'll be posting about that project when it is finished.

That's all today folks!

Camping in Ohio

We're staying at a campground in Grafton, Ohio while we visit with our brothers.

This afternoon we're attending our grandniece's 1st birthday celebration.

Across the street from our campground is the site of Belden School where I attended 6th grade a long time ago. The school had sat empty for many years and was torn down two years ago.

This building was formerly Eaton School - I went there from 3rd to 5th grade.

Yesterday on our way back to the campsite Hubby drove by my parents home from 1960 through 1979.

I was pleased to see it is being taken well care of for a 52 year old house! It looks the same as when I lived there.

My dad planted the huge maple trees in the backyard decades ago!

Lots of memories in this home...I graduated from high school, college and married while living my parents lived here.

The theme for our grandniece's birthday is Mickey Mouse!

I will be at "home" with this Disney theme.

I'm wearing my Mickey Mouse earrings!

Stumped Again

I can't believe a "simple" dishcloth #12 pattern has me stumped!

I'm on round three (that's right just round three) and I'm trying to figure out how to do this "anchor double crochet" stitch...

Either I will finally figure it out or I will move on to something else.

Patience is not usually my thing.

Oh...by the way I meant to share this photo of a Mickey Mouse logo we saw on an RV while driving around Ft. Wilderness (Walt Disney World, Florida).

 Isn't it cute?

Yes...I.will try to keep calm!

 Back to that darn stitch...

DROPS Waistcoat & Disney License Plate

I decided at the last minute to NOT take my Rainbow Scrap Afghan on our Florida road trip.  I was running out of some of my colors and I didn't want to drag the afghan all over the country in case I couldn't find the colors I needed.

Plus we were limited in storage in our travel van and by the time I loaded all the different yarns for the afghan into my crochet bag it was stuffed, heavy and overflowing.

Instead I choose a couple left over yarns in bright colors to try to make this waistcoat pattern from DROPS Designs.

"Drop" on over to the DROPS website and take a look - there are so many FREE cute waistcoat patterns to try.

Another "Mickey"

Before we left on our trip we knew we wanted to find a cute front license plate souvenir from Walt Disney World.

We hit all the shops at the Magic Kingdom but couldn't find any souvenir plates.

Then I remembered a large shop in ToonTown but when we tried to find ToonTown we discovered it was completely gone.

Disney is building a new section in the Magic Kingdom called Fantasy Land (coming 2012) which will showcase Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the Little Mermaid.

We kept looking at the shops in the other parks too.  Epcot has several good shops and finally my Hubby found this adorable Disney license plate there.

We were so busy on our trip Hubby didn't have time to attach it on the van until we returned home!

Isn't it cute!

I'm missing Mickey!

Something terrible!

Hopefully, we will be able to go this fall.
