Lopsided like me...

Presenting my Granny Rose Stars and Stripes pillow cover!

Of course this is the flag side...

And this is the granny rose side.

I like both sides...how about you?

Let's insert the pillow form.

Sitting pretty on the sofa.

I think it turned out fairly well considering I winged it (i.e., no pattern for the flag).

It's not perfect but neither am I.

A Good Yarn...

The two sides of my Stars and Stripes pillow cover have been joined. 

 I found four pretty red buttons in my button stash.

I stitched the white granny rose down with red yarn to hold it in place.

I wonder what my next crochet project will be?

My Saturday so far...

I'm finally sitting down after finishing my Saturday chores. 

 I decided on Granny Roses in red, white and blue for the back of my Stars and Stripes pillow cover.

Now I'm filling out the border with double crotchet stitches in white, blue and red until the back is the right size.

I think I will just put one white Granny Rose on the front flag blue portion.

We're still plugging away in our craft/hobby rooms. I hope to be able to show some photos soon. 

 It won't be cutesy until later. Once it's organized I can get my cutting table and buy some pretty fabric to cosy up the space.

Starry Nights

I'm seeing stars in the night...

Oh, wait...it's...

My Stars and Stripes pillow cover!

It's a little cockeyed...like me!

But I figure when it's on the pillow form it won't be that noticeable.

Gosh...I love Astri's Granny Roses and found myself crocheting some more of them last night.

I think I will make some granny rose squares for the back piece of the pillow cover.

Presenting My "Moonlight" Pillow Cover

Last night I finished the green edging and selected three black vintage buttons from my button pot.

This is the black granny rose side with the three vintage black button closure.

And this is the white granny rose side.

This little black and white granny rose travel pillow looks good out on the porch.

What do you think of my pillow's new name "Moonlight"?

Pammy Sue of "Scotty's Place" thinks I should crochet a granny rose throw in black and white. 

 I agree with her it would be stunning but I'm taking a break from crocheting ~ and granny roses ~ to try to finish my bird embroidery I started working on in the 1980s.

This is my friend "Teddy". 

 He lives behind us and likes to come over to visit. 

 He's a rescue dog who was lucky to find a good home and neighborhood to live in.

He's a sweetie. 

He has the cutest black nose.

Now I have to study my embroidery directions because I don't remember how to do anything. And I have to embroider left handed. I can't do that right handed like I can crocheting.

I'll leave you with a cute, but so true, Internet joke.

One is NOT Enough

I had set aside six granny roses in a shade of green I didn't use for my Rose Garden throw with the intent of using them in another granny rose pillow cover.

Because ONE is NOT ENOUGH!

You never know what will inspire you.

Maybe a cute black and white doggy.

Or a beautiful black stallion running in the white crisp snow.

Then you see it...a black and white throw/rug from Ikea. 

 And you think "I can crochet this!"

And before you know it your fingers have grabbed some yarn because you just have to see what a granny rose would look like in black with a white background.

And then your fingers are busy crocheting a white granny rose with a black background.

Oh, yeah...I like it!

And while we are at it let's join the squares in black yarn.

Looking good.

Keep going ~ don't stop now.

Happiness today is black and white.

The final touches will be to add a green yarn edging and buttons for the opening.

My Blue & White Decor

Blue Toile Drapes and Valance

I have always loved Blue & White so I guess that is why I decorated our Master Bedroom and Bath in it.  These are the only custom drapes I have ever had made.  

I am still crazy about this blue toile pattern and how it compliments our Benjamin Moore Oriental Silk wall paint color.

Vintage Chenille Bedspread

Sorry...the light isn't the greatest in our bedroom!

This beautiful chenille tuft pattern stands out better with the camera flash off.

I found this beautiful vintage blue and white chenille bedspread at a gift shop in Chesapeake City, Maryland.  

It was marked $50 and when I bought it up to the cashier she said I could have it for $40!  

What a deal!  

It is in perfect condition and it washes up beautifully.  

I use it in the summertime on our bed.  It is sooo soft and lightweight. 

Pillow Cover Front

This is my latest crochet project.  

I whipped up this cute little blue and white pillow cover.  

I chained a row of white the length of the pillow.  And then it's just rows of double crochet and single  crochet alternated.

I single crocheted the sides closed and added little button holes on the back.  

I crocheted little blue ties rather than using buttons. 

Pretty cute, huh?
