Little Star Dish Cloth

Want a cute and easy dish cloth to crochet?

Well, I'm cleaning and straightening out our Danish wall units in our family room. 

 That's where I store my crochet books and free patterns I print out. 

While cleaning I found this adorable pattern (go here to download a pdf) from Bella Crochet called "Little Star Dish Cloth".

It's so cute. 

I like using my crocheted dish cloths in the kitchen.  

Smaller ones in a size like this one - fits my hand just right - and when it's dirty just throw in it the clothes washer.  

 I'm going to make two more in coordinating colors. 

 I'm using cotton yarn and it's so thick to hook with compared to acrylic.

Hubby and I watched this program on cable TV today called "Extreme RVs".  There's a company in Denver that takes used Air Stream trailers and customizes them for clients.   I've always wanted to take a vintage trailer and fix it up. We love our "Little Guy" (Pleasure Way travel van) but we are always thinking what will be our next RV down the road. Hubby is favoring a small motorhome C, like a "Born Free," and towing a Jeep Wrangler.   Nothing like daydreaming....

Hubby went out to run some errands and I said to him, "What shall I do this afternoon?"

 "Do I crochet, blog, watch TV or read?" 

 So many choices for a retired gal to consider.

Life is good. 

 And we have another trip to Walt Disney World coming soon. 

 Yippee!

 I'm going to see if I can order this vintage crochet pattern (here) - and yes, make a black and white blanket.

I really like it.

Mickey likes it too.

Six Petal Flower Motif

Ah...black and white!

I have always loved black and white together.

Think Coco Chanel...

...her classic black and white suit with pearls.

Simple yet stunning.

Maybe my next project will be a simple black and white throw.  

I'm actually designing trying to design my own Six Petal Flower motif to use.

The popcorn stitch here makes the flower pop.

This throw will be mainly white with little pops of black.

Giddy over Gingham

I'm giddy over gingham.

Especially the gingham pattern in my little Gingham Blanket.

I started following the pattern for the border and added two rounds of double crochet in the rudy red and liked it but decided to "do my own thing" and added more colors (watermelon and white) and different stitches for the next five rounds.

It's a little blankie just right for a baby.

I didn't write down the pattern for the border - but it's just repeating a double crochet, one chain in each space around with  three double crochets at the corner space.  

Really I just "winged it" at the corners adding with I needed so it wouldn't curl up.

The last round is single crochet, chain two in each space all the way around.

I'm pleased with the results.

  The little blankie measures 30 and 1/2 inches by 26 inches including the border.

It's right at home piled here with my other afghans - Rainbow Scrap Afghan and Waikiki Wild Flower Blanket.

It's a good day to stay inside and crochet.  

It's a damp, overcast lousy day and yesterday was foggy all day long.

So, do I do a little project now?

Or jump in with a larger one?

I'm trying to use up yarn in my stash.

I'm thinking of doing a white throw with tiny touches of black in it.  

Believe it or not my inspiration for the white and black throw was a bathroom tile floor Sarah Richardson designed for one of her shows. 

Not sure what I'm going to do next...too many cute patterns and not enough time.
