Check Off Our Flower Boxes Done!

This is the first time I bought zinnias for our shed's flower boxes.

I loved their bright colors - yellow, orange and shades of pink and rose!

This morning I emptied the old dirt and put new potting soil in the boxes.

These are Superbells Blackberry Punch.

I've used the Superbells in past years as a proven winner in my boxes - love this color!

I always add the variegated vines to each end of the boxes.

All done!

So Pretty!

Our backyard needs lots of work. We've asked for some estimates to do some crushed gravel areas and finally burying the remaining down spouts.

We can't do anything with our planting beds around our porch until the downspouts are buried.

The Superbells are in the middle with the Zinnias on each side and then the vines on each end.

I forgot to show you our little lilac bush when it was in bloom this Spring!

Our Cottage Stripes Powder Bath Room

Several years before I retired I was in a local stencil shop and fell in love with their striped and flowered stenciled wall display.

All excited I bought their flowered stencil, paints and supplies and started the first step of my project painting "stripes" onto our first floor powder bathroom walls.

I marked lightly in pencil the placement and width of my stripes all around the room.

I used blue painter's tape to keep my stripes straight and neat... filling in the stripes with Benjamin Moore's "Oriental Silk" flat paint.

This fancy gold mirror came with the house when we moved in back in 2000.

I doubt I would ever buy a mirror in this style but I use what I have.

A pretty basket.

My solution for holding the necessary toilet paper rolls.

The white foot chest is from Pottery Barn as is the white glass door cabinet in the first photo.

The chest nicely holds the rest of my bathroom supplies.

{{And is always covered with magazines for us to read while busy doing you know what...

but I prettied up the photo shoot just for you!}}

I love the little fabric covered night light shade (also purchased from Pottery Barn).

While I'm still in love with the look in this little room I hope I never have to paint a tiny powder room again.

I was sore for days after this project.

Oh..yeah...you noticed I never got around to stenciling it.

I decided I liked it just with the simple stripes.

{{I'm sure my stencil paint is dried out by now.}}

That's all folks!

Good Friday

Good Morning this lovely Good Friday!

These little bunnies are precious to me. While visiting my parents in Florida many years ago at Easter I went with my Dad when he bought my Mom flowers for Easter. My Dad picked these cute bunnies to go with the bouquet.

I'm adding more colors to what will be another bench cover.

These are Easter colors too!

I love this ripple stitch...Bobble Zigzags...I can see me hooking a blanket in this stitch one of these days.

I'm almost done with the seat area.

Then I will add the sides.

I'm thinking of crocheting the sides to the valleys/hills of the ripple a different way.

I'll let you know if it works out.

Have a wonderful Good Friday!

My Bird House

When my father-in-law retired many years ago his family knew he would need a hobby to keep him busy as he wasn't a man who liked to sit for long. His sons pitched in and bought him a scroll saw. He loved it and spent hours making items to give away to family and friends. This little bird home is one he made for us. I painted it and it proudly hangs in our Master Bedroom now.

I think of all the fun times we had at my in-laws whenever I pass by this cute little home.

How we miss them...they were wonderful parents and raised three fantastic sons.

Cherish every day with your love ones.

Too soon they are gone and only the memories are left.

Wish you could join me for a cup of coffee...I would love to sit and chat with you. Whereever you are... please sit down and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the birds as they go about making their nests.

Enjoy your Spring!

Our Vintage Bunnykins Set

"Visiting The Cottage"
Royal Doulton "Bunnykins"

If you look at my sidebar you can see a listing of my most popular postings.

I'm always surprised that the post with the most hits is

Vintage Royal Doulton "Bunnykins" signed by Barbara Vernon

I shot the photos for that posting in natural light on my dining room table.  I thought I would see if the china would  photograph better using our new light box and lamps.

This cute set was passed down from Hubby's Mom.  I can only assume they were his as a baby.

"The Proposal"

Awwwww....so romantic!

The Kiss

The cup, "The Proposal,"  above shows Mr. Bunnykins kissing his fiancee after his proposal.

The backstamp for the cup with the lion coloured brown is c1937-1953.

Our Mismatched Royal Doulton Bunnykins Set
Signature by Barbara Vernon

After some research on the internet I discovered the bowl, "Visiting the Cottage," is a different subject than the cup.

"Bunnykins" backstamp for the bowl is c1934 - 1937.

Even the backstamps are cute as can be!

Do you have a "Bunnykins"?

I'm glad we do because I love bunnies!
