Jewel Tones

I loved this photo of Christmas lights I found on Pinterest.  

Look at the beautiful jewel tones.

Now what do these colors remind me of...?

Oh, yes...it reminds me of my Waikiki Wild Flower blanket.

I love the colors in these Caron Simply Soft yarns.

Red, blues, pinks, orange, green and purple shades.

Like a lovely garden of wild flowers.

Some patterns aren't fun to crochet...but I have to say this one is a joy to work up.

I'm on row ten of twelve.  

I would like it to be a small throw so I'll have to see what size it is when the 12th row is done to determine if I want to add any more rows.

Well, I better get back to crocheting.

Santa and Sleigh

Our Christmas card address labels are reviewed, updated and printed out this morning.

Remember the days when we had to hand-address all of our cards?

I remember helping my Mom out as a teenager addressing and signing their Christmas cards for them.

You see my Mother worked outside our home all during the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

When there wasn't all the conveniences for working women like today.    

My Mom's name was Dorothy...not "Dor thy" but "Dor O thy".   

You better pronounce that second "o"! 

My Dad, family and friends all called her "Dot".

Who doesn't love DOTS!

We did!

Anyways, I'm so glad we have computers today for this card writing task as I type better and faster than I can write.

Plus my hand doesn't get tired!  

 I picked out the 2012 Christmas stamps for Hubby to buy today.

As you know I love Snowmen and Santa Claus so I was pleased with this year's 

Santa and Sleigh stamps.

Check Off Christmas Sugar Cookies!

Our Christmas Sugar Cookies are all frosted and in the freezer - all 163. 

Well, that is minus the four we ate.

Hubby was a real sweetheart and helped me frost them. 

 It took about three and one half hours to frost all the cookies.  

And about an hour to make the two bowls of frosting and set up the frosting station.

We finished in time for me to fix supper before the Halloween Trick or Treaters came.

So glad that chore is done. 

 We are still working on our Christmas cards but hope to have that almost finished soon. 

 My goal is to have them all ready to be mailed ~ except for updating & inserting our annual Christmas letter ~ when we return from Walt Disney World in December.

We're not doing too badly on our Christmas gifts either.

Who knows maybe we'll start a new tradition of preparing early for Christmas.

 It was a little colder than usual here but no rain and no wind. 

 We had fun handing out the treats to the kids.
